Your Visit To Sanctuary Flower Fields
***FIELD VISITS ARE FOR EVENTS OR PRIVATE BOOKINGS. WE ARE NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR DROP INS***
We are so thrilled that you have decided to visit our flower field. We hope it brings you as much joy and peace as is does for us. To make your visit smooth sailing, we have provided some FAQ answers below.
Parking
Please use the East entrance to our flower field. You will see marked parking areas upon entering the field.
Bathrooms
During August + September we will have an outhouse on site.
Food + Drink
Feel free to bring your own food + drinks. We do ask that you try to choose litterless options, and leave no garbage on site. There will not be garbages in the field.
Pets
We love your furry friends, but we ask that you please leave all pets at home for your visit (working dogs permitted).
Garden Damage
Accidents happen, but we ask that you please try to avoid damaging our beloved plants. There is ample space to walk in the rows amongst the flowers. Please avoid stepping into or on the flowers.
Weather
Our field will be closed in the event of severe weather. This includes heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightening, high winds etc. We have minimal shade in our field, so please dress for the weather. We will do our best to rebook events, working with our availability.
Terrain
While our field is relatively flat, it's still a field. That means we have potholes, rocks, puddles, etc. Please use caution while navigating natural terrain. If you require extra assistance with mobility, please contact us and we will try to help.
Photography
Feel free to snap some photos while you are visiting. Professional photography must be booked though our photography inquiry. This is an honor system, and we trust that you will support us.
Allergens
Being in nature, we have all of the potential allergens. From bees to plants, people can have adverse reactions to a wide variety of exposures. We suggest wearing gloves and long sleeves if you have sensitive skin. Bug repellent is also encouraged.
Pick Your Own (if applicable)
Our Pick Your Own events are typically self guided. We provide you with a mason jar filled with water, and snips to use. You can wander the field, and pick all of your favorite flowers. There is no stem limit, but you must be able to fit what you pick into the mason jar. Please let us know if you would like to pick more than one jar. We kindly ask you to return your snips after you are done picking.
Flower Freshness
To keep your flowers looking their best, we suggest the following:
Strip all leaves from the stem, that will be submerged in water.
Use a clean vessel and fresh water.
Change water daily
Pluck blooms out as they fade (all flowers have a different vase life)
Store out of direct sunlight
Keep in a cool environment
Keep away from fruits and veggies
FYI - Tips + Tricks
- Some flowers do not like being harvested in the heat of the day, and will wilt if harvested when temperatures are very hot.
- Pick flowers that have strong/stiff stems. Gently wiggle the flower stems to see if the flower head is “wobbly/floppy” If it wobbles, it will flop in a vase.
- Check the center of the cosmos to find the freshest blooms. Flowers with “fuzzy” appearing centers will have a shorter vase life, compared to those with flat centers. Same rule applies with Dahlias.
- Don't be afraid to cut down low on the stem. Cutting low on the plant encourages new growth.
